How to run a salon loyalty program that clients actually use

Updated: · हिंदी में पढ़ें

A salon lives on clients who come back every few weeks. Most of them don’t leave because of a bad haircut — they just try the new place on the way home once, and then again. A simple loyalty program gives them a reason to keep their chair at your salon.

Why salons need a different plan

A café customer may come every day; a salon client comes every three to six weeks. That changes everything about a loyalty card. Ask for 10 visits and the first reward is a year away, so nobody cares about it.

Salon clients also choose a person, not just a shop. When a stylist leaves, clients often follow. A program that rewards visits to your salon — not to one stylist — helps keep them with you.

How many visits before the reward

A good test: a regular should reach their first reward within two or three months. If you offer many services, count visits, not services, and pick one number for everyone.

ServiceA regular comes everyReward every
Men’s haircut & beard2 to 4 weeks4 to 5 visits
Women’s haircut6 to 8 weeks3 to 4 visits
Threading & waxing2 to 4 weeks5 visits
Facial & cleanup3 to 5 weeks4 visits
Hair colour6 to 8 weeks3 visits

Rewards that work in a salon

  • A free head massage — clients love it and it costs you ten minutes.
  • A free beard trim or threading on top of the regular service.
  • A free hair wash and blow-dry.
  • A free face cleanup or a hair spa for clients who come for bigger services.
  • Avoid a free full haircut or facial — it costs as much as the visits before it earned you.

Use it to fill slow days

Most salons are full on weekends and quiet on weekday afternoons. Your loyalty card can move some of that. Tell regulars at the counter and on your WhatsApp status that the reward is easiest to enjoy on a weekday, when there’s no waiting.

When a client is one visit away from their reward, a short WhatsApp message on a quiet morning — “your free head massage is ready, we have a free chair today” — often brings them in the same day.

Bring back clients who stopped coming

In a busy salon, a client who stops coming is noticed months later, if at all. If you keep visits on each client’s phone number, you can see who hasn’t been back in two months and send them one friendly message.

Keep it personal and short, from your salon’s name: you missed them, and if their reward is close, say so.

Doing it with Regularhood

Regularhood is a stamp card on the client’s phone number. You set one rule — every N visits (3 to 10), one reward you choose. At the counter you type the client’s number and tap Add visit; on the last visit the app says “Give the reward now”.

With one tap you can send a client their card on WhatsApp, showing how many visits are left, in Hindi or English. You also get a printable counter poster, a WhatsApp status image with your rule, and a list of clients who haven’t come back with a ready “we miss you” message. Free to start.

Questions

What is a good loyalty reward for a salon?

A small service you can give quickly that clients enjoy: a free head massage, a beard trim, threading or a hair wash. Avoid giving away a full haircut or facial.

How many visits should a salon loyalty card need?

Usually 3 to 5, because salon clients come every few weeks. The first reward should arrive within two or three months.

Should a salon count visits or money spent?

Visits are simpler and fairer. A client who comes for a quick trim every month is just as loyal as one who comes for colour, and both should feel close to a reward.

Do clients need to install an app?

No. With Regularhood the visits are counted on the client’s phone number, and their card opens from a WhatsApp link in the browser.

Does it work for a beauty parlour or barber shop?

Yes. Any place where the same people come back every few weeks can use the same simple visit card.
